Sunday 9-1 at Nauset Beach South (22)
Join Stephen O’Grady, Director of Orleans Conservation Trust, on a five mile hike from the south end of Nauset Beach parking lot to Pochet Island. A member of the Payson family will join the group at the island’s bridge to walk the island and share the Payson family’s history, its recent restoration of the sandplain grassland habitat, and extraordinary views of ocean and bay. Hike is through loose sand and changing topography. BRING WATER AND LUNCH. Dress for ticks. Be prepared for a short wading stretch of up to eight inches of water at high tide.
*Reservations required. THE WALK HAS FILLED UP, but the island is open to the public and exploring the island on your own is a special experience! Keep an eye out for registration again
