📌 Plastic Cleanup and APCC Rainbarrels

March 28, 2018 By Orleans Pond Coalition

Join Us For The Orleans Construction Kick-off!

Monday, March 5th, 10 A.M. at Friends Market Parking Lot

The first steps in sewering downtown Orleans are about to begin! On next Monday, March 5, the street work to install the main sewer collection pipe commences at the intersection of Main Street and Route 28, adjacent to Snow Library and the Orleans United Methodist Church. OPC plans a brief “stand-out” with a thank-you banner to show support for this important project. We will meet in the Friends Market parking lot at 10 A.M. and walk to the town commons at the intersection, well away from the construction site. Because of street closures, you will have to access the parking lot from Route 6A via Brewster Crossroads. If you plan to attend, send us an email at info@OrleansPondCoalition.org so that we can watch for you. This is a big deal, over ten years in the making! Let’s celebrate!

Orleans Is Open During Construction

Please remember to support out local businesses during the construction downtown.

Thank you to Tim and Nancy at the Sparrow Store for providing posters to remind us!

Eversource Again Plans to Spray Herbicides Throughout Cape Cod
Eversource recently submitted a five-year plan for managing vegetation over power lines on the Cape and Vineyard for approval by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR). Like its 2013-2017 plan, the new Vegetation Management Plan (VMP) proposes continued use of herbicides which threaten the region’s delicate drinking water supply and natural resources we rely upon daily here. These plans continue in the face of widespread opposition from Orleans and every other town on Cape Cod. Before it approves the plan, MDAR is asking for input from the public, either via mail or at a public hearing:

Public Hearing on Plans to Use Herbicides on Utility Rights of Way
