We’re Almost Finished!
Thank you to everyone who showed up at our Special Town Meeting Monday night. The room was full and, after more than an hour of discussion and debate, Orleans voters overwhelming approved the project to install sewer pipes in the center of Orleans. More than three quarters of our voters endorsed the decision to move forward, At last, Orleans will start to move from studies and designs and start actually building something.
By coordinating this project with Mass DOT’s work to rebuild the streets in the center of town, Orleans will save almost $3 million dollars and avoid years of delay. At the same time, Orleans voters sent a clear message. We’re committed to avoid more delays and want to finally address our wastewater challenges.
We have one more stepin order to begin our long-awaited water clean up. We must approve the funding for the construction at thetown election by a majority of voters onTuesday, October 24 at the Orleans Senior Center. Just for this election, polling hours have been adjusted per state regulation to Noon to 8 pm.
For those of you unable to cast your vote in person, absentee ballots are available at the Town Clerk’s office tomorrow until 4 pm and Monday October 23 until noon.J
