Saturday 4:00 to 6:00 at Addison Art Gallery (1)
Addison Gallery is pleased to participate in Celebrate Our Waters weekend on Saturday by welcoming the public to admire works of art inspired by the unique Cape Cod atmosphere created by sea and light, at the gallery at 43 South Orleans Road. The reception will feature an exhibition work completed that morning along with plein air and studio works by master artists. Visitors can also observe works in progress and enjoy a casual reception on the front lawn, weather permitting. Masks are required inside the gallery. From 3:00 to 5:00, Amy Sanders will demonstrate building depth and luminosity with pastel as she works towards bringing a painting to life through multiple layers. Pastel particles retain their individuality within layers. If carefully layered using strokes in a variety of colors, weights and direction, light bounces among the particles creating a unique radiance.
From 4:00 to 6:00, Paul Batch will demonstrate in oil, discussing tonalism and his capturing the sky, sea and land at such varied times of the day. Questions and comments from audience member of all ages will be encouraged and add to these events.
