2026 Celebrate Our Waters Events

June 29, 2026 By Meg Voorhes

Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20

Please join the Orleans Pond Coalition for our annual Celebrate Our Waters festivities, scheduled from Friday, September 18 through Sunday, September 20.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “our waters as artistic inspiration.” We have created several new events aligned with this theme for Saturday the 19th:

  • A juried photography exhibition at Snow Library, with over 40 photographs from more than 30 photographers celebrating the beauty of Cape Cod’s magnificent waterscapes
  • A music and dance performance in Parish Park
  • Poetry readings
  • A sing-along for children with Paul Kehoe
  • Presentation of nature photography by Peter Trull
  • Plein air painting demonstrations and artists reception at the Addison Art Gallery
  • Open houses at four more Orleans art galleries starting at 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

These events are in addition to our always popular outdoor activities:

  • Sunset SUP paddle
  • Morning dip at Skaket Beach
  • Sailing on Pleasant Bay
  • Bird watching at Nauset Marsh
  • Yoga on the Beach
  • Hike to Pochet Island
  • Kayak trip to Sipson Island

For those curious to learn more about Orleans’ progress with sustainable water management, we are offering tours on Friday afternoon of the Orleans Water Department and the Wastewater Treatment Facility.

We cap off the celebration with our annual concert and bonfire on Saturday night, September 19 at Nauset Beach! This event is not to be missed! The music starts at 5:30 pm with DJ “JT’s Chronicles,” followed by a live performance from local teen band “Watch Your Step.” The evening closes with the magical bonfire, co-sponsored with the Orleans Department of Public Works. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate the beauty of Nauset Beach at sunset with your friends and neighbors!

Note that the following events require pre-registration, due to space limitations:

  • Tour the Orleans Wastewater Treatment Facility
  • Tour the Orleans Water Department
  • The Sunset SUP Glow Tour
  • Sail on Pleasant Bay
  • Poetry Readings hosted by Christine Jones
  • Kayak and Hike to Sipson Island
  • Hike to Pochet Island

Registration for these events will open in early September. To register, click on the event title in the schedule grid below. There will be a registration link within the event’s description. When you register, be sure to include your complete contact information.

For the complete list of events, with descriptions and locations, please download the full event schedule below.

We hope to see you at many of these events during Celebrate Our Waters!
