Meadow Bog Pond

  • Pond area: 2.6 acres
  • Maximum depth: 5.0 ft (2.6m)
  • Location: Meadow Bog Pond is located just to the east of Quanset Road and south of Sarah’s Pond.
  • Water access, parking:  No water access.  There are views of the pond from Quanset Road between Meadow Bog and Quanset Ponds, as well as from the Orleans Conservation Trust (OCT) walking trails, but these do not go to the water’s edge. Parking for the walking trails is available at Quanset Road in S. Orleans. There are 2-3 parking spaces  at 174 Quanset Road and additional parking is available at the Twinings Pond Trailhead found about 0.25 miles further up the road.
  • Boat ramp / boat access:  none
  • Recreational Uses:  walking, bird watching
  • Fishing: no

Other Fun Facts:

  • Meadow Bog pond connects to Sarah’s pond via a 100 year old 6” clay pipe. Meadow Bog Pond is also connected via a culvert under Quanset Road to the salt water Quanset Pond, which is part of the Pleasant Bay estuary.
  • Meadow Bog Pond may have originally been a cranberry bog.
