Deep Pond

  • Pond area:  4.7 acres.
  • Maximum depth: 18.1 ft (5.5 m)
  • Location: Deep Pond is located in southern Orleans, just to the east of Route 28, north of Towhee Lane and south of Lake Drive.
  • Water access, parking:  none; the pond is surrounded by private property
  • Boat ramp / boat access:  none
  • Recreational Uses:  no (for adjacent residents only)
  • Fishing:  no (for adjacent residents only)

Other Fun Facts:

  • Deep Pond is part of a complex of ponds, which includes Uncle Seth’s Pond, Deep Pond, Shoal Pond, Twinings Pond and Sarah’s Pond that is oriented in an east/west line and parallel to the shore of Pleasant Bay. It has a surface water connection to Shoal Pond.
  • In the mid-1900’s Deep Pond and Shoal Pond were the site of pickerel fishing tournaments.
  • Wood ducks nest in duck boxes on Deep and Shoal Ponds.
  • When there are high water levels, typically in spring, it is possible to kayak between Deep and Shoal Ponds. In summer, the water levels are lower and the ponds are separated.
