Nauset and Skaket Public Beaches will begin charging (week-ends only) on Saturday, May 23 and (full-time) beginning on June 20. As usual, Lifeguards will not be staffed until the beaches are open full-time on June 20. In order to provide adequate space for physical distancing, specific adaptive management protocols will be implemented based on the Governor’s most recent order. At this time, Nauset and Skaket Public Beaches’ available parking spaces are likely to be reduced to provide adequate room on the beachfront so that beach goers may practice physical distancing. Food concession services will be managed similar to a restaurant takeout and grocery stores with cordoned off service lines and adequate spacing. Restrooms will be open from 8am to 6pm beginning on May 23. Because we are witnessing significant early-season demand on our beaches, it is possible that the “available parking spot reduction strategy” will be initiated on busy days prior to May 23. In order for this beach season to be successful, it is crucial that all beach goers follow the guidelines included in the Governor’s most recent order. The Town of Orleans Department of Natural Resources is looking forward to a successful 2020 beach season. We ask for your patience and compliance during these challenging times.
